Fred Heller was born and raised in the hard coal region of Northeastern Pennsylvania. He began singing and playing the guitar at the age of 13. Fred played in several rock and roll bands in the sixties and seventies. Fred relocated to Northern Virginia in 1979 after being appointed to the Washington, DC Fire Department. He formed several bands throughout the DC metropolitan area before embarking on his solo career. In the early 80’s, Fred gravitated toward the bluegrass/country genre and in 1986 he made his first trip to Nashville, Tennessee where he recorded Heller Highwater I. Shortly thereafter, he recorded Heller Highwater II and The Man. Over the next seven years, Fred received significant air play on 100 independently owned and operated radio stations throughout the country. Currently, Fred resides in Pennsylvania where he is available for bookings.
